We reported last month that two high-profile stars were joining Joel Schumacher's new film and now it seems one of those stars has bowed out of the film. Deadline New York is reporting that Nicolas Cage has left the film project Trespass.

It was said that no one knew why Cage abruptly left the film, which is just two weeks away from production starting up. While it was originally speculated if he was off the project for good, the story was updated with new information that Cage was permanently off the project. Despite the casting setback, the site also reports that Millenium Films still plans to keep their proposed start date, given they can find a replacement for Cage.

Nicole Kidman and Jordana Spiro will star in the film, which revolves around a husband and wife (Kidman) who are taken hostage, and Cage was set to play the leader of the kidnappers. Spiro will play the girlfriend of the lead kidnapper.

The site is also reporting that Millenium has put an offer out to Liev Schreiber to play the husband role, although he hasn't decided on the role as of yet.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further news regarding Trespass as soon as we have more information.
