Nicolas Cage is well known for his over-the-top acting and crazy choice in roles. It seems these crazy choices will come to a head in next year's The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent. There are certain things fans have come to expect from Cage in recent years, and this film is no different. Cage plays a fictionalized version of himself, who has to perform for an obsessed fan played by Mandalorian star Padro Pascal.

What fans have come to expect from Cage is going to be doubled in this film, because only one person can play Nic Cage and that is the man himself. He has become an icon in the ridiculous side of cinema in recent years thanks to films such as Mandy and Wiley's Wonderland. And this film has already generated buzz merely from its incredible premise of Cage revisiting his roles.

With that said, here's what we expect from Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Pedro Pascal And Cage Will Go Head To Head

Pedro Pascal has made quite a splash in recent years. The actor has proven that he can be serious and gritty, but also off the walls insane. This isn't dissimilar to Cage, who has proven he can pull off both sides of the acting coin as well. These two in a movie together seem like a dream come true, and on top of that, seeing them both acting insane seems to be a given. If things turn out as we hope, Pedro and Nic will turn in one incredibly over-the-top and entertaining rivalry.

These are two actors that many may not think of in terms of dream pairings, but now that is a reality everyone knows it is all they ever wanted. Pedro's character is an obsessed fan of Cage's so fingers crossed there will be some scenes of him intimidating his on-screen idol. Judging by some of the pictures released by Lionsgate, the two do share some screentime together, and it looks as if they are having a blast doing so.

Nic Cage Will Show Off His Acting Chops

As well known as Cage is for his zany overacting, he is also a very talented dramatic actor. There are more than a few examples of films where Cage proves that he can act his heart out in a serious, and often times gut-wrenching way. Nicolas is one of the most popular actors working, yet in many ways, he is one of the most underrated. It is no doubt a blast seeing him scream and act like a mad man, but it is a very unique experience to feel your heartstrings tugged at by his performance.

This movie is a perfect opportunity for a more mainstream audience to see a serious Cage in action, as films like Pig fly unfortunately under the radar of many. It is very possible that Cage will act like his Cagey self in one scene, but then pull the performance back and act more subtle, which if done right would be a perfect showcase of his acting chops. Given how this movie is a celebration of Cage, it should be expected to see Cage a bit more subdued, so audiences can see both sides of the actor.

A Swan Song Of Sorts

This is sure to be far from Cage's last role. That being said though, this movie is a celebration of the actor, and a sort of swan song is to be expected. This movie could serve not as Cage's last role, but maybe a departure from the crazy man fans love. The recent success of Pig and the announcement of Cage as Dracula shows he has bigger plans outside of ridiculous performances. Nicolas Cage is an actor who has evolved immensely over the years. It is not a stretch to say the performance in Face/Off is not the same as the Cage from recent years. Cage has gone from A-lister to a star of insane indie flicks.

The next level of Cage could be more grounded and realistic, and celebrating and embracing his past insanity could be a good passing of the torch of sorts. Nobody wants to see Cage depart from his zany nature, but the truth is that his ability to evolve is one of the key reasons he is still so beloved. Nobody really knows what they will get with a Cage performance, and that is why fans keep getting drawn to him. Perhaps his performance as Dracula in the horror-comedy Renfield will cement him as a new-age Vincent Price, or maybe he will stick to the Cage fans have grown accustomed to.

Regardless of what is in store for him, audiences can rest assured he will always be the most entertaining part of any movie, and he is welcome on our screens anytime.
