When it comes to Marvel casting rumors, Norman Reedus being tapped to take on the role of Ghost Rider in the MCU is one that has done the rounds for a while, and even though he has a number of projects already on his slate, the Walking Dead star addressed the ongoing suggestions that he could well be the one to bring the Johnny Blaze to the MCU. Reedus is already down to film a second season of Ride With Norman Reedus, and has the upcoming Carol and Daryl Walking Dead spin-off to come, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t play Ghost Rider if Marvel came knocking, but for now, he says he just can't say if it will happen.

"Fingers crossed," Reedus told ComicBook.com. "I don't know. There's been a lot of talk over the last couple years. I do not have an answer for you."

As well as being a fan favorite to take on the supernatural role, Reedus himself has in the past said that he is a huge fan of the motorcycle-riding character and therefore would be up to playing him if the offer was there. Now that Marvel has started introducing the likes of Moon Knight, Blade, and other darker characters to the MCU, it is undoubtedly only a matter of time until a Ghost Rider project is officially given the go-ahead, and it is clear that Reedus would be waiting if the call came.

Marvel Studios Recent MCU Additions Are Heading Toward a Midnight Sons Movie

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga avoided dipping into some of the darker Marvel characters available, Phase Four is certainly heading into uncharted territory starting with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the former Sorcerer Supreme’s new adventure is being marketed as the MCU’s first horror movie, there are many more opportunities for the franchise to bring out corners of the comic book world that have so far remained in shadow. While Sony are bringing the likes of Morbius to the big screen, the MCU is soon to see the arrival of Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night and Blade, and that could by natural progression lead to the arrival of Ghost Rider and the formation of a Midnight Sons group.

The Midnight Sons first appeared in 1992, in Ghost Rider #31, and at one point or another has featured all the aforementioned supernatural superheroes, as well as Doctor Strange, Morbius, Iron Fist and Punisher among many others. With a couple of years, there will be enough players in place for Marvel Studios to consider a Midnight Sons crossover, which could also include Sony’s Morbius considering the recently successful collaboration on Spider-Man: No Way Home. Of course, all of this, for now, is speculation, but back in May last year, it was rumored that a Midnight Sons movie was in the very early stages of development.

Norman Reedus fans can get ready to catch him as Daryl in the second part of The Walking Dead’s final season, which returns to AMC on February 20th.
