There hasn't been much news on The Crow remake since Luke Evans signed on to play Eric Draven back in May. Today, we have word that The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus is the top choice for a character named James.

No details were given about the role, and, since there isn't a character named James in both the original James O'Barr comic book and the original 1994 adaptation The Crow, it seems likely that this is a brand new role crafted specifically for the reboot.

F. Javier Gutiérrez is directing from a screenplay by Cliff Dorfman, based on an earlier draft by Alex Tse and Jesse Wigutow. The story follows rock star Eric Draven, who was killed alongside his fiancee. He comes back from the grave to avenge his own death.

The director revealed at Comic-Con 2013 that they were aiming to start production preparations in October, but it isn't known when principal photography will begin.
