On Friday, Daily Mail stirred up some juice by posting the rumor that Christian Bale was in talks to play Robin Hood in Ridley Scott's revisionist take on the classic story entitled Nottingham. Soon after, sites like AICN and Chud debunked the story claiming they knew for a fact that Christian Bale wasn't anywhere near being involved in the production. Now, Latino Review is running an exclusive story that Sam Riley is the man Russell Crowe wants for his on-screen nemesis.

Crowe will play the Sheriff of Nottingham in the film, and this time around he's the good guy. About who will indeed play the bad guy (hence, Robin Hood), Latino Review's secret source stated, "...Russell Crowe wants Sam Riley who played Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis in Control to play opposite him as Robin Hood. It's not official yet but they will most likely get Sam Riley for the role because Crowe loved his performance in Control. "

Has this all left you scratching your head? Do you really care? Well, you can look for an announcement as to who will actually be playing Robin Hood in the weeks to come, as the film will start shooting in August. Personally, I'd like to see Ewen Bremner in the role.
