Monday night's series premiere was the most-watched series premiere in network history, with 1 million viewers tuning into the premiere and another 350,000 who watched the same-night repeat of the pilot.

Showtime swiftly ordered another 13 episodes of the series, which stars Edie Falco as the title character, after viewing the overnight numbers. The series did get a solid lead-in help from the fifth season premiere of Weeds, which scored 1.7 million viewers.
