The story is set in the 1980s, where these five young men translated their harsh upbringing into uncompromising and explicit music by forming the revolutionary rap group N.W.A. that changed music forever.

F. Gary Gray is directing from a screenplay by Andrea Berloff, S. Leigh Savidge and Alan Wenkus, with original N.W.A. members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre producing alongside Matt Alvarez and Tomica Woods-Wright, with William Packer serving as executive producer. No production schedule was given.

Aldis Hodge is best known for playing the hacker Alec Hardison on TNT's Leverage, and he also recently starred in The East and on the AMC series Turn. Neil Brown Jr.'s feature credits include Never Back Down and Battle: Los Angeles, and he has also appeared on Suits and The Walking Dead.
