The new Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series set the internet abuzz this week. Fans have been looking forward to seeing more of this character since the end of the underrated Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith back in 2005. Now that the Star Wars show's release date is getting closer, Disney finally gave us the trailer we were looking for. The series will take place about 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and nine years before Star Wars: A New Hope. The first and newest trailer still leaves a lot to the imagination, but manages to sneak in some foreshadowing and hints about the show.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is praised for embodying the best Jedi ideals. Anakin Skywalker called him, "As wise as master Yoda and as powerful as Master Windu." Obi-Wan balances both the physical and mental training of the Jedi. He is one of the few characters to actually beat Darth Vader in a lightsaber battle. With so many aspects of the character to draw on, he can easily hold his own Star Wars series, but if you still need help getting excited, here are some powerful Easter Eggs you may have missed.

The Inquisitors

Disney Distribution

Fans of Star Wars: Rebels or Jedi Fallen Order will recognize these imposing force wielders, but this is the first time they will appear in live action. Many people are still unfamiliar with these dark characters. After Order 66 wiped out most of the Jedi, a small handful of force wielders managed to escape and hide throughout the galaxy. Some of the most well-known Jedi that survived are Master Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi himself.

Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader enlisted the help of these dark force wielders to hunt the remaining Jedi. The rule of two only allows for two Sith Lords to be alive at one time, so these hunters are called inquisitors, but are not real Sith Lords. Even though they are not "real Sith," these Inquisitors are still a force to be reckoned with. In the cartoons they had no trouble giving Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, and even Ahsoka Tano a run for their money.

Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen

It is always fun to see a smaller character step into the spotlight. This trailer highlighted Owen Lars, Luke's uncle, and gave the impression that he will have a bigger role in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. Uncle Owen was very disapproving of Luke's longing for adventure in the original trilogy, but Owen's death ironically pushed Luke towards the Death Star. We got a small clip of Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars when Obi-Wan handed off baby Luke in the third movie. Since we never got to see Edgerton really play the role, we are glad to see more of him.

Young Luke Skywalker

Disney+

When we first met Luke Skywalker, we watched him grow from a teenager into an adult. Thanks to the new Star Wars trilogy, we even saw him grow into an older adult. However, we know very little about Luke's childhood. In the new trailer, it was exciting not only to see a young Luke, but also to see him pretending to be a pilot. We know that one day he will be a real pilot, but It's fun to watch his first steps.

It was also fun to watch Obi-Wan Kenobi spy on Luke from afar; Ewan McGregor is excellent at playing a kind of melancholic tenderness. He seems to feel the same responsibility for Luke as he did for Anakin, but doesn't dare create a disturbance in the force by engaging in the child's upbringing. Obi-Wan will probably continue to avoid contact with Luke in this series, but we wouldn't be surprised if we get to see more snapshots of the boy's childhood.

Duel of the Fates and Battle of Heroes

Hayden Christensen already confirmed that he will return to the Star Wars universe to play Darth Vader. Hearing John William's arrangement of "Battle of Heroes," the same song that played when Obi-Wan Kenobi and Vader last faced off, brought back all kinds of nostalgia and excitement for fans.

Some fans are quick to point out that the trailer actually starts with "Duel of the Fates" playing in the background. This is the song that played when Obi-Wan first defeated Darth Maul. We know from various TV series, comic books, and even Solo: A Star Wars Story that Darth Maul secretly survived his fight with the Jedi. The return of his battle music may foreshadow Maul's return as well. Regardless of what it means, we are all happy to hear John Williams' famous music again and are looking forward to hearing what else he has created for the show.

Cal Kestis and the Jedi Symbol

Cal Kestis
EA / Respawn Entertainment

Cal Kestis first appeared in the Jedi Fallen Order video game. He narrowly survived Order 66 because of the protection of Jedi Master Jaro Tapal and his own unique force power. Cal remained in hiding for a long time, but then accidently revealed his Jedi powers in an accident on Bracca. He escaped his early encounters with the Inquisitors, and then saved records of force-sensitive younglings from falling into their hands.

His likeness can be spotted from behind or in the shadows in this new trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi. After the events of the game, the Inquisitors probably never stopped hunting down Cal. It makes sense that if the Inquisitors play a major role in this series, they may bring Cal Kestis into the story with them. Until more details are confirmed, we can only hope to see more of this loved character soon.

In a short clip of the trailer, we also see a gloved hand brush over the Jedi's symbol etched on some kind of wall. Since the Jedi are supposedly gone, it leaves us to wonder who could have carved it and why. Perhaps it is a secret symbol of hope, similar to the rebel's own uniting symbol.

Rex

Captain Rex in Rebels
Disney/Lucasfilm

Rex was a leader in the 501st battalion during the Clone Wars. He served closely with Anakin and Ahsoka in Star Wars: Clone Wars. Many fans believe that he also appears in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi during the battle of Endor (although that is a controversial topic on some discussion boards).

Some people say that a close up of the armor we see in the trailer looks more like a clone trooper (from the Clone Wars) than a storm trooper (human recruits who replaced clones after the war). It might still be a bit of a stretch, but if his appearance works for the story, we would love to see him again.

Han Solo

Kenobi Trailer may show Han Solo's Blaster in a showdown with the inquisitor
Disney Distribution

Do you recognize the blaster in the trailer's alleyway show down? It shares a remarkable resemblance to Han Solo's, according to Inverse. There were many rumors that Harrison Ford filmed a cameo for The Book of Boba Fett. Since we never saw him appear there, he could potentially make an appearance in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Although, they may need some expert makeup artists or special effects workers to de-age Harrison Ford back to what he looked like in the 80s.

Alternatively, Kumail Nanjiani teased his appearance as a "new but familiar" character in this series. Maybe the blaster is intentionally similar to Han's, but actually belongs to a new character. Either way, it will be incredible to see all the characters the great Ewan McGregor will get to interact with and play off of in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and this trailer is just the tip of the iceberg.
