An official poster for Obi-Wan Kenobi has been released courtesy of Disney, featuring the recognizable visage of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader. Alongside the poster, a dramatic still from the ongoing Disney+ series has also been unveiled, featuring Vader and his former friend and mentor Obi-Wan once again clashing lightsabers.

The poster continues the theme seen in other such promos for Obi-Wan Kenobi, with the exiled Jedi Master silhouetted against the familiar twin suns in the eye of the beloved bad guy. The new still meanwhile teases the exciting sight of Obi-Wan versus Darth Vader, an event that has been described by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as the “rematch of the century.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi picks up ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, in which the Jedi Order was destroyed by Order 66 and his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker became the Sith Lord Darth Vader. The exiled Jedi master is now watching over Vader's son Luke Skywalker on Tatooine while in hiding and living a solitary life. But his past has begun to catch up with him, as Darth Vader has set up the Sith Inquisitors program, a group of Dark Side Force users, to hunt down any Jedi who survived Order 66.

Star Wars prequel star Hayden Christensen reprises the role of Anakin Skywalker in Obi-Wan Kenobi, a role that he has not played since the divisive prequel trilogy all those years ago. Fans are excited to see Christensen return, with the actor also due to suit up as Darth Vader in the series.

"These characters have aged, but not that much yet,“ Christensen said of reprising the iconic character. “It's been a very rewarding experience in that regard, and it's been really nice to have this wave of positivity over the prequel films. And to see that expression come across has been really nice. We're adding more connective tissue, and so that has to line up. That was something that I was cognizant of, even when we were doing the prequels, in knowing that there's someone else that played this character before me and after me, and we have to find something that feels right."

While we have known for some time that Hayden Christensen would be back, it was not known whether he would be joined by the voice of Vader, Star Wars staple James Earl Jones. Well, it has now been confirmed that Jones will join Christensen, with the pair bringing Darth Vader to life once again as the Sith Lord tracks down his former friend.
