Back in October, we reported that Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock is coming aboard to lead an all-female cast in Warner Bros.' reboot of Ocean's Eleven, with Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) set to direct. We haven't heard any updates on this project since then, but today we have word that one of the biggest stars in the world may join the cast. A new report claims that Jennifer Lawrence is being eyed for a role in this new project, with early negotiations currently under way.

The news comes from The Tracking Board, which also sheds some light on the story. Our original report revealed that this reboot actually originated from Ocean's Eleven star George Clooney, director Steven Soderbergh and producer Jerry Weintraub, who brought on Olivia Milch (Queen and Country) to write the script. While it wasn't known at the time if there would be any connection to Ocean's Eleven or its subsequent sequels, this report claims that Sandra Bullock will be playing an ex-con who is the sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean.

The report also claims that Sandra Bullock's character will assemble a team of thieves to steal a coveted necklace from the Met Ball, while framing a gallery owner for the crime. If Jennifer Lawrence does in fact sign on, she will play the right-hand woman to Sandra Bullock's character. It isn't known if Olivia Milch's script will include a cameo appearance for George Clooney as Danny Ocean, or any of the other Ocean's Eleven stars like Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, so we'll have to wait and see.

Production isn't expected to begin until next fall, but the producers are hoping to secure their biggest cast members early on. It isn't known if Warner Bros. has officially given the green light for this project, or if they have set a release date at this time. Jennifer Lawrence will next be seen in the highly-anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse, arriving in theaters May 27, and she also stars in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Passengers, which is set for release in December. She is also developing a comedy with Amy Schumer, with both actresses set to star.

This project is just the latest high-profile studio movie to feature an all-female cast. Sony will release their Ghostbusters reboot this summer, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Lionsgate is also developing an all-female version of The Expendables, but it isn't known when that project will move forward. Stay tuned for more on the Ocean's Eleven reboot as more details surface.
