Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer has signed on to star in Lionsgate's Divergent sequel, Insurgent.

The actress will portray Johanna, the leader of the Amity faction, which is dedicated to peacefulness, kindness, forgiveness, trust, self-sufficiency, and neutrality. Shailene Woodley is returning as Tris Prior, along with Theo James as Tris' love interest Four and Kate Winslet as Jeanine, the leader of the Erudite (intelligence) faction.

Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher and Pouya Shabazian are producing, although it isn't known when production may begin. Lionsgate has already handed out a March 20, 2015 release date for Insurgent.
