FilmDistrict announced today that it is pushing their remake Oldboy from an October 11, 2013 release to October 25, 2013. It will now face Paramount's horror sequel Paranormal Activity 5 on October 25. It was previously set to go up against Captain Phillips on October 11.

Josh Brolin stars in Oldboy as an advertising executive who is taken captive and held against his will for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is suddenly released, he begins a quest for vengeance to find out who tormented him for the past two decades. Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Lance Reddick, and Michael Imperioli also star.

Spike Lee directed this English-language remake from a script by Mark Protosevich (Thor), based on the manga created by Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi. Chan-wook Park directed the original Korean-laguage Oldboy, which was released domestically in 2005.
