FilmDistrict has pushed its upcoming remake Oldboy from its original October 25, 2013 release date to November 27, 2013. No reason was given for the move.

Oldboy will now face a more crowded field in its new release date, squaring off against Fox Searchlight's Black Nativity, Disney's Frozen, and Open Road Films' Homefront in wide release, along with Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Grace of Monaco, and Out of the Furnace in limited release. Now that Oldboy has vacated its October 25 slot, only The Counselor and Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa are opening on that date.

Josh Brolin stars in Oldboy as Joe Doucett, a man who was inexplicably abducted and held captive for 20 years before being unexpectedly released. He goes on a quest to find the men who held him as their prisoner for so long. Spike Lee directs from a screenplay by Mark Protosevich, based on the original Korean film Oldboy directed by Chan-wook Park.
