Ryan Gosling's Only God Forgives lands at FilmDistrict
FilmDistrict has acquired the distribution rights for Only God Forgives, which has Ryan Gosling attached to star and Nicolas Winding Refn set to direct. We first reported on this project last week.

Nicolas Winding Refn will direct from his own original screenplay, which is set in Bangkok, Thailand. The story centers on a criminal, who despite earning the respect of his peers, still has a void in his life. He meets a Thai cop known as The Angel of Death and starts to re-think his destiny.

Our earlier report indicated that Kristin Scott Thomas is attached to star, possibly as the criminal's mother. There is no indication whether or not she is still involved.

Production will start this fall, with FilmDistrict eyeing a 2012 release. FilmDistrict is also distributing Drive, which stars Ryan Gosling and is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.
