Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez will return to Hulu beginning June 28, 2022, with more fun capers as wannabe sleuths in Season 2 of Only Murders in The Building. Martin plays Charles Haden-Savage, a once-famous TV star of a 1990s detective drama series who spends his days as a lonely C-lister and is lucky to afford his fancy abode. Martin Short is cast as Oliver Putman, a famed Broadway director known for his mammoth-sized productions but is now out of work. Rounding out the bumbling trio is Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora, the new tenant in the building who joins her neighbors Charles and Oliver in solving a murder that happened in their Upper West Side apartment building.

Last season’s episode of Only Murders in the Building ended on a cliffhanger with the arrest of the three after Charles and Oliver discover Mabel standing over the bloodied body of their apartment’s board president, Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell). Life behind bars seems short-lived as the new trailer shows them out in hot pursuit of another killer in a determined effort to clear their names.

Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Returning Cast

Some of the guest stars visiting this residential hub of criminal activities in Season 2 include legendary actress Shirley MacLaine (Terms of Endearment) as Bunny’s grieving mother and who Oliver immediately accuses of murder before seeing how she pitifully brandishes a butter knife. Amy Schumer comes on board to play an exaggerated version of herself, living in an apartment that was once subleased by Sting. Tina Fey is set to return as Cinda Canning, the host of a wildly popular “serial”-like podcast All Is Not Ok in Oklahoma. Nathan Lane publicly confirmed he will also be returning. Lane plays Teddy Dimas, an Arconia resident, deli chain owner, old friend and patron of Oliver's, who agrees to sponsor the podcast. Other cast of characters include Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad), Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Zoe Colletti (Annie), and Michael Rapaport (Atypical) who plays Detective Kreps, a detective assigned to the case of Bunny’s murder. Many Season 1 cast members are expected to return as co-creator John Hoffman confirmed that many were invited back. The mystery-comedy series has received critical acclaim, with praise for its comedic approach to crime fiction and for the performances and chemistry among the lead performers.
