Fans of the hit series Only Murders in the Building will have an important date to mark on the calendar. On Friday, Hulu released a new teaser for the show's upcoming second season that features main cast members Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short. Addressing the viewers from the inside of an elevator, the trio announced that season 2 of the acclaimed series will start streaming this summer with an official premiere date set for June 28, 2022. Premiering in 2021, the first season helps to set up a new mystery to be explored in season 2 of Only Murders in the Building. The cliffhanger closed season 1 with the trio getting arrested as suspects in a new murder that has taken place. You can read the official season 2 logline below.

"Following the shocking death of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger, neighbors turned podcast co-hosts Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) race to unmask her killer. However, three (unfortunate) complications ensue: the trio is publicly implicated in Bunny’s homicide, they are now the subjects of a competing podcast, and they have to deal with a bunch of New York neighbors who all think they committed murder."

Steve Martin co-created Only Murders in the Building with John Hoffman (Grace & Frankie). The two also executive produce alongside Short and Gomez, as well as Dan Fogelman (This Is Us) and Jess Rosenthal. The cast also starred Aaron Dominguez and Amy Ryan with guest appearances by Tina Fey, Nathan Lane, Sting, Jane Lynch, and more. Cara Delevingne, Michael Rapaport, and Amy Schumer will be a part of season 2.

Only Murders in the Building Scored a Perfect 100% Rating at Rotten Tomatoes

Only Murders in the Building Season 2: What We Know So Far

The reception to the first season of Only Murders in the Building was very strong. Critics were unanimous with the support of the series, bestowing it with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its audience score was not too far behind, with a score of 93% fresh. The pressure will be on to match the quality of the first season if not outright surpass it with season 2, but the team behind the series is very confident in what's in store for fans moving forward.

“Everyone in our amazing ‘Building’ worked with such love and expertise through extraordinary times — and with incredible support from Disney, Hulu and 20th TV — to create a first season that might live up to our legendary cast, our beloved New York City, and to make a show about connection," Hoffman said at the time of the renewal. "To feel we’ve connected with our audience and hit the mark enough already to have the chance to continue — and to carry on our show’s wild ride of mystery-comedy-empathy — is too exciting for words. So I’ll shut up now, and just say a huge thanks to all and I can’t wait for more!”

Only Murders in the Building will debut season 2 on June 28, 2022, only on Hulu. The first season is now streaming.
