The star-studded series Only Murders in the Building adds three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep into the mix. The ensemble cast led by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez now includes Paul Rudd, Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse Williams, Emily in Paris’ Ashley Park and Meryl Streep is the latest addition to the cast. Although Hulu confirms that Streep is only a guest star and not a series regular.

Hulu debuted the first look of Streep on the promo teaser for the third season during the pre-show coverage of 95th Oscars last night. The video saw the veteran actress playing as theater actress Loretta. She was having a table read for a theater play with Martin Short, Steve Martin and Paul Rudd.

During the table read for the play, everyone at the production was staring at Streep’s character as she hadn't realized she’s the next person to read her line. Once the actress realizes it’s her turn, she blurted, "Oh my god, it's me!" she says while laughing. "I'm so sorry, it's me, isn't it?"

What's Coming on Only Murders in The Building

Aside from Streep’s appearance reveal, the promo video also saw more of Paul Rudd’s character Ben Glenroy. The actor joined the series at the end of the second season as a surprise cameo. He plays as the co-star of Martin Short, and Steve Martin’s characters on the series. At the series finale last season, Ben was found dead as seen in the flash forward of the series. The finale saw a one-year time jump that introduced Rudd as a problematic co-star.

During the opening night of the play, Brazzos confronted Ben about his behavior and then said, “Stay away from her. I know what you did.” Things didn't seem to end well for Ben as his character soon collapsed and died on stage following the confrontation. It seems that the series’ trio will further investigate the death of Rudd’s character.

When TVLine asked Only Murders in the Building’s co-creator John Hoffman about “her” which can lead to solving the murder, he said, “I really would love to tell you that. But I also like that question being posed in the minds of viewers in between Seasons 2 and 3. I would just say this: It is definitely a question that we asked ourselves, and we sprang forward with a very definite answer.”

At the moment, Hulu hasn’t announced the release date for the third season of Only Murders in the Building.
