Shortly after actor Ed Westwick, best known for his work on Gossip Girl, was accused of raping two different women, the BBC has decided not to air the upcoming miniseries Ordeal by Innocence, which the actor stars in. Though the network acknowledges that he's not yet been convicted of these crimes, they still feel the best course of action is to not air the miniseries, which is based on Agatha Christie's novel. Here's the official statement from the BBC.

"These are serious allegations which Ed Westwick has strenuously denied. The BBC is not making any judgement but until these matters are resolved we will not include Ordeal by Innocence in the schedules. The independent production company making White Gold has informed us that Ed Westwick has paused from filming while he deals with these allegations."

White Gold airs as a Netflix original in the U.S. and aired its first season earlier this year, but now season 2 of that series has also been affected by the recently surfaced claims made against the actor. The claims were made against Ed Westwick earlier this week by actress Kristina Cohen and former actress Aurelie Wynn. Westwick took to social media to deny the claims and says he's working with authorities to clear his name.

"I do not know this woman. I have never forced myself in any manner, on any woman. I certainly have never committed rape. It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct. I have absolutely not, and I am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible."

The LAPD is currently investigating Kristina Cohen's claims, which were detailed via a Facebook post made on November 7. According to Cohen, Ed Westwick forced himself on her at a house party in 2014. Her post includes a graphic account of her alleged encounter.

"I was woken up abruptly by Ed on top of me, his fingers entering my body. I told him to stop, but he was strong. I fought him off as hard as I could but he grabbed my face in his hands, shaking me, telling me he wanted to f**k me. I was paralyzed, terrified. I couldn't speak, I could no longer move. He held me down and raped me."

Ordeal by Innocence was scheduled to air on the BBC as a three-part miniseries. Amazon picked up the rights to stream the miniseries as well, but Vareity's report doesn't clarify whether or not the streaming service will still put it up or not. Ed Westwick also stars in Snatch on Crackle, which has been picked up for season 2. There's no word on whether or not these allegations will have an effect on that series as well.
