Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac has revealed that Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ show will be a limited series rather than something ongoing. Moon Knight is set to premiere on the streaming service in March and will feature the MCU debut of one of Marvel’s most complex characters. No doubt there will be some fans disappointed by the news that Moon Knight will be one-and-done.

"I'd never heard of Moon Knight before, and I collected comics when I was younger. I'd heard of Morbius, but I’d never heard of Moon Knight. I don't know how the process was for you, because it's a feature film, we’re a limited series."

In a conversation with Jared Leto for Variety, Isaac discussed the Moon Knight series, revealing that he’d never heard of the character before. Aside from revealing the finite nature of the series, Isaac discussed the advantages of playing a lesser-known character in a serial format.

"There was a lot of room to try stuff because there wasn’t the pressure that we got to make sure we make however many hundreds of millions of dollars on the opening weekend. So we could make it very point-of-view. We could make very weird decisions. At the moment, at least - and I don’t imagine it’s going to go backwards - it feels like that’s where more of the risk is being taken because it can financially."

The intention for Moon Knight to be a limited series is not too surprising but is sure to elicit a few disappointed groans from fans of the character who were looking forward to seeing many adventures with the unorthodox antihero at their center. Producing limited series for Disney+ seems to be Marvel’s modus operandi right now, with the likes of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier having both ended after just one story. So far, Loki is the only Disney+ outing to receive a second season.

Of course, Moon Knight being a limited series does not mean audiences won’t see the character popping up elsewhere. Both Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon and Wanda Maximoff AKA The Scarlet Witch are due to appear in projects off the back of their respective series, with Wilson suiting up as Captain America in Captain America 4, while Wanda will team-up with Dr. Stephen Strange in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
