According to Variety, Michael Scott will be adapting his own novel Otherworld into a screenplay. Kopelson Entertainment partners Arnold and Anne Kopelson paid for the screen rights after reading a 15-page treatment.

The story focuses on ancient demons that are unleashed upon the Earth via Global Warming.

Otherworld is just one of many projects the Kopelsons have picked up since aligning with the Equus Media Development Fund. Through them they are able to buy projects they like without having to get approval from a studio. The couple will choose a studio for the film once the screenplay is finished.

Scott's novel "The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" was optioned by New Line in November.
