Olivia Cooke and Douglas Smith have signed on to star in Ouija for Universal Pictures and director Stiles White. No character details were given at this time.

The project has been through several stages of development, first at Universal, then Paramount, where McG was attached to direct. Universal picked up the project once again last March, slashing the budget from a reported $100 million to just $5 million.

We reported last July that Stiles White and his writing partner Juliet Snowden were making their directorial debuts together, working from their own screenplay. However, now only Stiles White is set to direct. Michael Bay, Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form are producing for Platinum Dunes, with Jason Blum producing under his Blumhouse Productions company. Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir also serve as producers. Shooting is scheduled to begin next week in Los Angeles.
