Billy Bob Thornton is in negotiations to join Sandra Bullock and Scoot McNairy in the Warner Bros. dramatic comedy Our Brand Is Crisis.

The project is based on Rachel Boynton's documentary of the same name, which followed James Carville and Stan Greenberg, former consultants to U.S. President Bill Clinton, who used American political campaign strategies during an election in Bolivia. No details were given for Billy Bob Thornton's role, although The Wrap reports Sandra Bullock is playing a character named "Calamity" Jane Bodine, a retired political consultant who often utilizes famous quotes to accentuate her talking points.

David Gordon Green (Joe) is directing from a screenplay by Peter Straughan (Frank, The Debt). Smokehouse Productions' partners George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing, with Sandra Bullock serving as an executive producer. Shooting is slated to begin sometime this fall.
