Overture Films has bought the rights to Charlize Theron's drama, Ferris Wheel.

The deal for about $4 million marks the first purchase for the new company. Theron starred in and produced the flick through her Delilah Films; Bill Maher made his directorial debut on the film. Theron stars as a poor mother who gets caught up with the wrong crowd and abandons her young daughter (AnnaSophia Robb). The Hollywood Reporter adds she leaves the girl with her brother (Nick Stahl), and the girl develops a special bond with her uncle as they deal with the situation. Dennis Hopper plays the father of Theron's character, and Woody Harrelson plays a member of her circle of troubled friends.

No release has been set for Ferris Wheel.
