Halo star and Wolverine fan-casting favorite Pablo Schreiber has confirmed talks with Marvel Studios. During an appearance on the latest episode of the Bingeworthy podcast, the actor revealed that he has met with Marvel “at different points” during his career and even revealed that they have “flirted” with the idea of him becoming the new Wolverine.

"Yeah. You know I've seen [fancast] things pop up a lot. I've had a bunch of discussions with Marvel at different points in my career. We've never been able to find the right thing at the right time, but I'd certainly be open to that. But, yeah, it's just staying open to the right path and I don't know exactly what that is, but I'll know it when I see it."

While the actor and the studio have not quite managed to find the right role at the right time, Schreiber says he’s still “open” to more meetings with them, one of which could lead to him joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When asked specifically about playing X-Men fan-favorite Logan AKA Wolverine, Schreiber replied that it has been brought up in meetings and that “we flirted with that one for a while.”

Pablo Schreiber has become known for playing gruff, hard-edged characters who aren’t afraid of a fight, making him pretty perfect for the next iteration of Wolverine. One drawback is that the actor does stand at a mountainous 6’4”, making him a lot larger than the character’s canonical height of 5’3”. But, perhaps with some clever camera trickery, Schreiber could be made to look a wee bit smaller. Hey, it worked for Hugh Jackman. Sort of. Schreiber also just so happens to be the half-brother of Sabretooth actor Liev Shreiber. So it all fits.

Schreiber is clearly passionate about the beloved Marvel character, with the actor revealing that Wolverine was one of his favorites growing up. "That'd be fantastic, that would certainly be a dream casting,” the Den of Thieves star said. “He's actually my favorite hero, from a child he was always my favorite comic book. So I've had a long flirtation with that guy, so you know, obviously, that'd be a dream."

With Hugh Jackman having now left the X-Men role behind, what do you think of the idea of Pablo Schreiber sporting spiky hair and giant claws as the MCU’s Wolverine?
