It seems that Tom Cruise still isn't locked for At the Mountains of Madness, which was set to be Guillermo del Toro next directorial project.

Now, Legendary Pictures is rushing to get Guillermo del Toro behind the lens on Pacific Rim before he shoots At the Mountains of Madness for Universal Pictures, which still hasn't fully committed to that proposed thriller.

Pacific Rim is a PG-13 tent pole-sized potential summer blockbuster starring giant monsters. And it is very likely that it will be Guillermo del Toro next assignment as a director.

At the Mountains of Madness, an adaptation of an H.P. Lovecraft story about thawing aliens in Antarctica, is finding it hard to secure the $150 million price tag that comes attached to it. Especially since the project is being proposed as a hard R.

The hope is that Guillermo del Toro will return to At the Mountains of Madness after Pacific Rim is completed. And that he will have found a way to make it PG-13, and cheaper.
