In this day and age when biological warfare is more than a slight possibility, Pandemic brings to the forefront what could happen when a virus is set loose on a major city. Though the cause of the virus is not addressed, the fact that this new deadly virus is infecting people in Los Angeles and around the world is the subject of this movie on The Hallmark Channel.

The film begins with a young man who boards a plane from Australia to Los Angeles, unaware that he is infected with a deadly virus. While en route he shows symptoms of an illness and subsequently dies. The flight attendant immediately alerts the CDC, with thoughts of Bird Flu in her mind. When the plane finally lands in L.A. it is quarantined and the passengers and crew are taken to a separate facility, however one man escapes and goes about his regular life. His selfishness sets off a domino effect and everyone with whom he comes in contact is exposed and everyone with which they come in contact is then exposed, and so on and so on.

Meanwhile, back at the quarantine area the passengers are dropping like flies and the doctors are at a loss as to what to do to save them.

With the general population of L.A. quickly becoming ill, the Governor (Faye Dunaway) and Mayor (Eric Roberts), are told by the CDC doctor in charge (Tiffani Thiessen) the only thing to do is to quarantine the entire city to buy time for the doctors and researchers to find something to combat the deadly illness.

If you remember the movie Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman, you get a pretty good idea what this film is all about, without some of the suspense of that film. However with the state of the world today, it is an alert for all of us as to what might be in store in the future.

Vincent Spano, French Stewart, Bob Gunton, Bruce Boxleitner, and Renee Taylor are among the rest of the cast.

Pandemic premieres May 26 on The Hallmark Channel at 8/7c
