In a story from Variety, Paramount Film Group's president Adam Goodman recently had the studio pony up seven figures for the action-comedy pitch License to Steal.

Screenwriter Shane Salerno will write the script.

The pitch is based on Marc Weingarten's Salon.com article that looks at the high-end repo business. Apparently, these repo men go all over the world to "reclaim play toys including private jets and speedboats."

Writer-producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be producing License to Steal. This duo wrote Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with Ehren Kruger.

They also wrote Star Trek and they executive produced The Proposal

Paramount apparently nabbed this project before the other studios had time to take a crack at picking it up.

Initially, some of the article was published in two separate parts by Salon.com. Salerno initially picked up the article from Weingarten about a year ago. Studios were given an 8,000-word unpublished version to read at that time.

Salerno is currently working on a project that James Cameron is producing for Fox.
