The Killer's Game: According to Variety, Paramount Pictures has decided to play The Killer's Game, picking up from Intermedia the action thriller set in the world of expert assassins. Andrew Lazar is producing through his Mad Chance shingle.

Studio is in final negotiations with Intermedia for the project, which has previously drawn interest from directors including John Woo, Alex Proyas, Renny Harlin and Wolfgang Petersen.

No helmer is currently attached to The Killer's Game, which also has gone by the name "Godforsaken."

Story centers on an assassin who decides to go out in a blaze of glory and takes out a contract on himself but then decides he'd rather remain alive and must match skills with an array of hired hitmen.

Project originated from a script by Rand Ravich, based on Jay Bonansinga's novel of the same name. In Bonansinga's book, an aging Chicago hit man puts out the contract on himself after being told he's got six months to live and then learns the doctor tested the wrong blood sample.
