According to Variety, Paramount has decided to get to know The Man Who Knew Everything, buying Mike Reiss' spec script preemptively and setting it up with Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo at their Happy Madison shingle.

The potential seven-figure deal for Reiss, an Emmy-winning scribe and producer on "The Simpsons," marks the first major transaction at Paramount involving new president Gail Berman. Par's new co-president of production Alli Shearmur and exec VP Brian Witten also were involved in the deal.

The story is described as a Capraesque comedy-drama centered on the relationship between a woman and a homeless man with a great memory who's read a huge number of books.
