According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has bought Lisa Lutz's debut novel, The Spellman Files, with Laura Ziskin producing.

The story centers on an unconventional family of private investigators who not only use their skills to investigate crimes but who also go to great lengths to spy on one another. In this loving but dysfunctional family, nothing is sacred. The mother does background checks on her daughter's boyfriends; the father plants listening devices around the house; and the little sister secretly takes compromising pictures in order to blackmail them all. On any given day, each member of the Spellman family might find that they are being tailed, chased or interrogated -- all by one another and all in the name of love.
