Paramount Pictures International has picked up overseas rights to Kenneth Branagh's update of Sleuth.

The film stars Jude Law, who also serves as producer, and Michael Caine; it's based on Anthony Shaffer's Tony award-winning play, which was made into a 1972 film starring Caine and Lawrence Olivier. The Hollywood Reporter adds the updated version has been written by Harold Pinter, the first for the Nobel Laureate in a decade.

Sleuth tells the story of an out-of-work actor who becomes embroiled in an affair with the wife of a wealthy writer, who in turn is having an affair with a much younger woman.

A 2008 release has been set for Sleuth.
