According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has tapped Alice Wu to write and direct Foreign Babes in Beijing, based on the memoir by Rachel DeWoskin.

Described as in the vein of Lost in Translation, the story centers on a young American woman who moves to Beijing and becomes famous playing an American vixen in a Chinese soap opera. The tome, titled "Foreign Babes in Beijing: Behind the Scenes of a New China," was published in May by W.W. Norton and chronicles DeWoskin's experience amid China's changing cultural landscape in the 1990s. Frank Darabont and Anna Garduno are producing through their Darkwoods Prods. banner.
