The new Party Down is rounding out its cast. In development at Starz, the show will bring back several lead actors from the original cast members, including Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullaly. Per Variety, they’ve been joined by new cast members Jennifer Garner (Alias, Dallas Buyers Club), James Marsden (Sonic the Hedgehog, Westworld), Zoë Chao (Love Life, The Afterparty), and Tyrel Jackson Williams (Brockmire, Thunder Force) as series regulars.

Garner plays Evie, a “successful producer of studio franchise movies, who, in the wake of a breakup, is reconsidering her life choices. A fledgling relationship with Henry Pollard (Scott) becomes a way for her to explore possible new directions.” Marsden will also be starring as Jack Botty, an actor who “plays the lead in a popular superhero franchise. Jack’s looks match his charm, he enjoys his life, his fame and being the center of everyone’s attention.”

Chao will be playing Lucy, described as a “passionate, outspoken, free-thinking creative “food artist.” Lucy dreams of being a celebrity chef, but she’s stuck cranking out hors d’oeuvres at Party Down without the resources to do anything more ambitious.” Williams’ Sackson, meanwhile, is a “handsome, confident, driven, wannabe influencer/internet personality. He’s knowledgeable and savvy about his specific internet niche, but a bit lost in every other aspect of life.”

Party Down's Revival Brings Back the Original Team

Party Down was created by John Enborn, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, and Paul Rudd. It originally aired on Starz for two seasons in 2009 and 2010 before it was canceled, though it has maintained a cult following and is looked back upon fondly by many fans. The actors were all open to returning as well and in the age of legacy sequels and new takes on classic movies and TV shows, now was the time to revisit Party Down. Starz ordered a six-episode revival of Party Down in November. Like the original two seasons, the new series follows a Los Angeles catering team working a new event and inevitably getting tangled up with the guests and their lives.

Enborn, Thomas, Etheridge, and Rudd are back to serve as executive producers on the revival, with Etheridge also serving as showrunner. Adam Scott is also executive producing. Lionsgate TV is the producing studio, with Karen Bailey overseeing the revival on behalf of Starz.

“It’s great. It’s gonna be really fun,” Scott said of the series in an interview with Collider. “We’re just getting everything together. We start shooting in the middle of January, so we’re getting directors and we’re really putting in the work to get the season up and running. It’s just surreal to actually be doing it, after so long. It’s been like 12 years. It’s gonna be so much fun. Everyone is super excited to get back to it and just can’t wait. Yeah. We’re not gonna be like, it’s two weeks later, or anything like that. I think that that would be a bit of a stretch.”

An official release date hasn’t yet been announced for the Party Down revival series.
