Actor Patton Oswalt, coming off his critically-acclaimed performance in Young Adult, is in talks to join the 20th Century Fox comedy remake The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

The project is based on the 1947 comedy The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which starred Danny Kaye. The story centers on the title character, a timid man who works at Life Magazine, developing photos of other people's adventures. He is tasked with an important mission when he is sent to find a missing negative. Patton Oswalt will play an eHarmony consultant, who helps Walter create a dating profile. Kristen Wiig stars as the woman of Walter's dreams, with Shirley MacLaine portraying Walter's mother.

Ben Stiller is directing The Secret Life of Walter Mitty from a screenplay by Steve Conrad. After several years of delays, production is finally scheduled to begin this April.
