Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is reuniting with Universal Pictures for the comedy project The Better Woman.

Amy Sherman (Gilmore Girls) is writing the script, which centers on a successful young executive who gets dumped by her boyfriend for an older woman. She becomes friends with the older woman to find out why her boyfriend left her, and reinvents herself along the way. Reese Witherspoon was previously circling the project, but the actress is no longer involved. The project is based on an idea by Ron Bass and Jennifer Smolka.

Julie Yorn is producing The Better Woman through her LBI Entertainment banner. No production schedule was given for The Better Woman.

Paul Feig has also been circling a sequel to Bridesmaids, but it is said he is "hesitant to commit" to the sequel since writers Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are working on other projects.
