Giamatti seemed surprised to learn that release dates have already been announced for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which arrives June 10, 2016, and The Amazing Spider-Man 4, coming May 4, 2018. While he says that he is signed on for a multi-picture deal, he doesn't yet know if he'll be asked back for a fourth chapter.
As we've heard before, with Jamie Foxx (Electro) confirming /jamie-foxx-confirms-sinister-six-talks-for-the-amazing-spider-man-franchise/talks this summer, Sinister 6 is likely to appear in either The Amazing Spider-Man 3 or The Amazing Spider-Man 4, as each subsequent sequel builds up to it. Paul Giamatti has heard this too, though no one has given him any confirmation on when and if this will happen.
"I was stunned at the level of interest. I have never had that type of paparazzi on anything I've been doing. I was very surprised."
This was followed up with a question about Sinister 6, and if the franchise is headed in this direction.
"It seems like that kind of thing. They have not told me anything hard and fast about that."
He then said this, when asked if he signed a multi-picture deal.
"I did. Unless they really decided not to use me, which they could, I suppose."
He finished off his short sound bites on the The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 by revealing his shock at how Sony has already issued release dates for both films. He then confirms Rhino will be back, at least for one more movie.
"Do they have [it scheduled] that far ahead? I had no idea...I'm only doing the next movie. I don't know if I'm doing the one after that."
Does more Rhino excite you? Or do you want the next two sequels to be given over to another villain?
