Paul Maslansky will produce the jazz drama, Coming Through Slaughter; no studio is attached.

The film is about New Orleans legendary musician, Buddy Bolden; it's based on the novel by Michael Ondaatje. Ben Ross is adapting the screenplay and will direct as well. Variety reports the book is set in early 1900s New Orleans; it tells the life story of Bolden, a legendary cornettist who was a formative influence on jazz and on greats like Louis Armstrong.

Coming Through Slaughter will start production in the Big Easy next year.
