According to Variety, Paul Walker is bound for Antarctica, negotiating for the lead role in the Mandeville-produced Disney rescue feature.

Frank Marshall is directing the film, which will shoot in Canada this winter.

The picture is the fact-based story of two explorers who head toward Antarctica in search of a meteorite but are forced to leave their sled dogs and turn back. Walker plays a National Geographic reporter who retraces his steps with a rescue team.

Disney Fellowship recipient David DiGilio wrote the script and Mike Rich (The Rookie) did a rewrite.

Disney put the film on hold last year because there wasn't sufficient snow in its Greenland location, but producers expect a suitably white backdrop in Vancouver and northern British Columbia when shooting begins.
