Running Scared: M8 Entertainment Inc., a leading Canadian film entertainment company, announced today that filming is underway on its new feature film project, Running Scared. Written and directed by up- and-coming director Wayne Kramer (who garnered an Academy Award nomination and two Golden Globe Nominations for his acclaimed debut film The Cooler), Running Scared is a gritty and pulse-pounding action film. Paul Walker (star of The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious) stars in the film as Joey, a low level gangster who has only one night to get back his gun, after a neighbor's boy steals it. Running Scared will be produced by Michael A. Pierce, Brett Ratner (director of mega-box office hits Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, and Red Dragon), and Sammy Lee. Andrew Pfeffer, Andreas Grosch, and Andreas Schmid will serve as executive producers.

"We are very pleased to be working with Wayne Kramer on this picture," stated Sammy Lee, Vice Chairman of the Board for M8 Entertainment. "Wayne made one of last year's strongest and most assured feature film debuts with The Cooler, and we expect Running Scared to follow up on this promise by delivering a knockout combination of first-class acting and non-stop action."

Starring alongside Mr. Walker as Joey's wife will be Vera Farmiga, an emerging new talent who won the Special Grand Jury Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival for her role in the film Down to the Bone, and who has a leading role in this summer's big budget remake of The Manchurian Candidate. Other cast members include Cameron Bright (The Butterfly Effect, Godsend) and Ivana Milicevic (Love Actually, Paycheck), as the son and mother who live next door to Joey, and Michael Rapaport (Beautiful Girls) as a pimp.

M8 Entertainment is currently gearing up production in its strategy of producing, financing and distributing at least six films a year. Production has also recently began on M8's Lovewrecked, a charming teen comedy film which stars Amanda Bynes (What a Girl Wants), Chris Carmack (Fox's "The O.C."), Jamie-Lynn DiScala ("The Sopranos"), and Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls). Lovewrecked will be directed by Randal Kleiser (director of Grease and Honey I Blew Up the Kid), from a script written by Stephen Langford.

M8's current slate of upcoming releases includes the Mike Binder-directed The Upside of Anger, a bittersweet comedy which is slated to be released in the US through New Line Cinema, and stars three-time Academy Award nominee Joan Allen, two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Costner, Erika Christensen, Evan Rachel Wood, Keri Russell, and Alicia Witt. Also upcoming is Santa's Slay, an action infused horror-comedy that casts everyone's favorite holiday figure, Santa, in an entirely new and sinister light. M8 is co-producing Santa's Slay with Brett Ratner, and the film features WWE wrestling star Goldberg as the devilish Santa Claus, alongside up-and-coming young stars Douglas Smith (State's Evidence, Sleepover) and Emilie de Ravin ("Roswell"). Also forthcoming is Havoc, Academy Award winner Stephen Gaghan's (Traffic) searing music-driven story of teen culture as it clashes with the real world of urban Latino gangsters, directed by two-time Oscar winner Barbara Kopple, and starring Anne Hathaway and Bijou Phillips.

M8 Entertainment Inc. is a leading independent film entertainment company engaged in the development, financing, production and worldwide distribution of feature films. The company currently has offices in Montreal and Los Angeles.
