Paul W.S. Anderson is set to direct The Three Musketeers, which will be filmed in 3D. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director plans on making a contemporary period piece, which means it will be very modern, but set in a period landscape.

Anderson stated, "We are definitely modernizing The Three Musketeers without compromising the fun of shooting a period piece. But in our film, corsets and feathered hats don't take center stage. Our version is rich in eye-popping action, romance and adventure."

Anderson and Andrew Davies wrote the script, with plans to have the film shot in 3D. Anderson is set to start production on the film early next year, with an eye towards a 2011 release date.
