Spoiler Alert: Peacemaker Season 1 & The Suicide Squad

Superhero movies and TV shows have never been more popular than they have been in the 21st century, with new ultra-powered content seemingly being created every month. And the best part is that fans aren't complaining.

In fact, superhero series and films are so popular that they're gaining more traction than ever, with franchises like the MCU and the DCEU raking in money by the literal billions. Not only that, but both franchises started solely as theatrical releases and have made the jump to televised content as well. Yes, it's decisively safe to say that superhero shows and movies are going to be around for a while.

One such show is the recent HBO Max series Peacemaker, taking place in the aforementioned DCEU and starring the titular character played by John Cena. The series is a spin-off from James Gunn's recent Suicide Squad film, and Peacemaker instantly became a massive hit for both Gunn and the entire DC Extended Universe.

So, naturally, the show got renewed for a second season, and fans can't wait to get more Peacemaker action. But since Peacemaker is still a spin-off from The Suicide Squad, is it possible we could see more Suicide Squad members in the upcoming season?

Peacemaker's first season concluded with Peacemaker and his lovable band of sidekicks taking down an alien species referred to as "Butterflies." After a long and entertaining fight sequence, Peacemaker is able to destroy The Cow (the food source for the aliens) therefore eliminating the extraterrestrials' ability to live on Earth.

Even with Peacemaker completing his mission, many things about the finale were left open-ended (and for good reason). But one thing about the final episode that was pretty decisive was how Peacemaker (and the Suicide Squad) were tied into the rest of the DCEU. In the last episode, not only does Amanda Waller make an appearance, but four members of the Justice League show up too. Keeping that in mind, it certainly wouldn't be hard to imagine that Peacemaker will implement more members of the Suicide Squad for its second go-around.

Where Peacemaker Season 2 Could Gopeacemaker season 2 more suicide squad members season 2 could go Cropped

While season 1 may have ended with some shocking cameos by the Justice League and Amanda Waller, the best part about the appearances was that it set things up for season 2. After all, it was finally revealed to the group that Adebayo was Waller's daughter, creating a rift between them. So, to make things right, Adebayo spoke out publicly against her mother and specifically outed her for running the Suicide Squad program.

So, with the second season of Peacemaker coming, it would only make sense that parts of the season explore the consequences of Adebayo exposing her mother and the results thereafter. The public probably won't take what Waller has done with highly deadly inmates lightly, and it's bound to stir up trouble for the coming season.

Not only that but Peacemaker is known for being a character with a conflicted past who had struggled to toe the line between "hero" and "villain," notably when he killed Rick Flag and also tried to murder Ratcatcher and Bloodsport. With the first season of Peacemaker exploring more of the character's childhood, it wouldn't be a bad idea for the second season to center around the more recent mistakes he's made.

Which Suicide Squad Members Could Appearpeacemaker season 2 more suicide squad members which ones Cropped

So, let's just say for the sake of argument that other Suicide Squad members will appear in Peacemaker season 2 -- which ones would best be suited for the job? The main answer would be one of the three characters listed above -- Bloodsport, Ratcatcher, and Rick Flag. All three are played by A-list actors, and all three of their characters have recent history with Peacemaker.

Rick Flag may have been murdered on screen, but superhero projects are notorious for bringing characters back to life so that they can get their revenge. While unlikely, it would make sense for Flag to want revenge.

As for Bloodsport and Ratcatcher, they could very well be hired by Amanda Waller to bring Peacemaker down (because Waller will more than likely blame Peacemaker instead of Adebayo for ratting her out) since she already knows that Bloodsport can beat him. Ratcatcher proved that she could single-handedly take down a gigantic starfish thanks to her abilities to control the furry creatures, so assuredly handling Peacemaker would be no problem.

As for other characters, King Shark and Harley Quinn are probably less likely to appear as they didn't have too many ties to Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, and unfortunately, Polka-Dot Man perished and most likely won't be around to make an appearance either. That being said, fans might remember that Polka-Dot Man said his mother turned all of his brothers and sisters into superheroes. So, it could be possible that a brother or sister of Polka-Dot Man shows up to avenge the death of their brother. It's possible -- just saying.
