Paul Reubens' beloved Pee-wee Herman character is getting ready to return once more, with Netflix nearing a deal to distribute a new movie, which was once called Pee-wee Takes a Holiday, although it isn't known if that title will stay in place. The Wrap reports that the project has shifted from Universal Pictures to Netflix, but, although the project moved to Netflix, "a gazillion months ago," according to a source, a deal is still not finalized yet. If a deal is finalized soon, production may begin as early as February.

We first heard about the Pee-wee movie back in 2011, when producer Judd Apatow briefly mentioned the project. The producer revealed in March that Paul Reubens has written the script alongside Paul Rust. Just two months ago, Paul Reubens stated that a "big announcement" was coming in the very near future, with production set to start early in the new year.

No plot details were revealed, but the project does have an unspecified director in place. The Netflix deal does make sense, since the streaming service recently made all five seasons of Pee-wee's Playhouse available, along with feature films Pee-wee's Big Adventure and Big Top Pee-wee. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have more details about this highly-anticipated project.
