I don't know about you, but growing up as a kid in the '90s I know I was in front of my TV watching ABC's Friday night line-up TGIF every week. And today we have word that Warner Bros.' upcoming streaming platform WarnerMedia is planning on rebooting some of TGIF's biggest hits including Perfect Strangers, Step by Step, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Family Matters.

This news comes on the heels of Netflix's reboot of Full House with Fuller House starring Candace Cameron Bure as D.J. Tanner-Fuller, Jodie Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner, and Andrea Barber as Kimmy Gibbler, among others. That TGIF revival was a breakout hit, and the success was not lost on WarnerMedia executives.

But before we all get overly excited about today's news, let's make sure to keep our expectations in check as WarnerMedia merely is "thinking" of giving the above-mentioned TGIF shows a revival series. Nothing concrete has been set at this time.

But even if this new streaming giant doesn't reboot Perfect Strangers, Step by Step, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Family Matters they should still be okay, viewer-wise. After all, there is talk that they plan to snag back Friends from Netflix as soon as they can, and they plan to grab Seinfeld from Hulu once their exclusive deal runs aground in 2021. Plus there will be The Big Bang Theory repeats eventually joining as well. Currently, Warner Bros' TGIF shows mentioned above are still exclusive to Hulu.

Now for those of you that didn't grow up in the '90s, I'm going to provide a bit of background on Perfect Strangers, Step by Step, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Family Matters.

Perfect Strangers chronicles the rocky coexistence of midwestern American Larry Appleton (Mark Linn-Baker) and his distant cousin from eastern Mediterranean Europe, Balki Bartokomous (Bronson Pinchot). Created by Dale McRaven, the series ran for eight seasons from March 25, 1986, to August 6, 1993. Step by Step was created by William Bickley and Michael Warren and starred Patrick Duffy and Suzanne Somers as single parents, each with three children, who spontaneously marry, resulting in their becoming the heads of a large blended family. It kicked off as part of TGIF where it aired from 1991 to 1997, before moving to CBS for its seventh and final season.

Hangin' with Mr. Cooper was created by Jeff Franklin (Full House) and starred Mark Curry and Holly Robinson. The series aired on ABC from 1992 to 1997, and it ran a total of five seasons with seasons two, three, and four airing as part of TGIF. And finally, Family Matters was created by William Bickley and Michael Warren (Step by Step) and is best known for introducing the world to Jaleel White's lovable nerd, Steve Urkel. The Perfect Strangers spin-off revolved around the Winslow family, and ran for a total of nine seasons from 1989 to 1998.

Again, I watched all of these shows every Friday night growing up for a few years there and let's just say I know their theme songs by heart. While I know a majority of people would want to see a Perfect Strangers revival before any others, I have to go with Step by Step if a gun was placed to my head. After all, with Staci Keanan as Dana Foster, and Angela Watson as Karen Foster, the show did include two of my biggest crushes as a child. Sue me. This story comes to us from Deadline.
