Pete Davidson is going meta for his next project. Per Deadline, the Saturday Night Live star will headline his own comedy series inspired by his real-life with the comedian playing himself. The show is tentatively titled Bupkis and is co-written by Davidson and his longtime collaborator Dave Sirus and Judah Miller (Crashing). Bupkis is described as a "raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson's real life. It will include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements depicting an unfiltered view through Pete's eyes."

Compared to Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, this new show is expected to reflect Davidson's real-life persona with an "unapologetically unfiltered, R-rated storytelling." SNL head Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video has partnered up with Universal Television for the project, and the deals are now getting finalized. Bupkis is executive produced by Davidson, Sirus, and Miller, as well as Broadway Video's Michaels, Andrew Singer, and Erin David. It is being pitched to streaming services with Amazon's Prime Video and NBCUniversal's Peacock reportedly interested. The plan is for A-list stars to join Davidson in the cast, but no other names have yet been revealed.

Davidson is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, coming into the show as one of its youngest-ever cast members. Joining the show in 2014, Davidson has become one of its most recognizable and popular cast members. He also co-wrote and starred in the semi-autobiographical film The King of Staten Island, which was directed by Judd Apatow. He will also be seen in the horror-comedy movie Bodies Bodies Bodies, which makes its world premiere this month at SXSW, as well as Good Mourning with a U with Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox as well as Meet Cute with Kaley Cuoco. A Joey Ramone biopic featuring Davidson as the music icon is also in development.

Last year, Pete Davidson also appeared in the comic book movie The Suicide Squad as the DC character Blackguard. Recently, director James Gunn posted a message to Twitter in support of Davidson, with the actor currently embroiled in some highly-publicized drama related to his personal life. Gunn went on record to say that Davidson was one of the "nicest" people he knows and shows that kindness to everyone around him, traits that the actor had shown during his time on The Suicide Squad's set.

"For the record, Pete Davidson is one of the nicest, sweetest guys I know. A truly generous, tender, and funny spirit, he treats everyone around him with respect," Gunn tweeted.

Bupkis doesn't yet have its home, so a release date hasn't yet been announced. With Davidson more popular than ever, a sale for the show should be imminent.
