Thor: Love and Thunder is now only six months away and that means rumors are beginning to circulate about what and who we can expect to see in the summer’s Marvel offering. One of the latest suggestions would see the return of Peter Dinklage as Eitri the Dwarf, who was last seen helping Thor forge Stormbreaker during Avengers: Infinity War. The possible inclusion of Dinklage in the cast was reported by Cosmic Circus, who noticed that the crew of Thor: Love and Thunder includes a hairstylist for the former Game of Thrones star.

Eitri’s role in Infinity War was undoubtedly an important one, as in helping Thor create Stormbreaker he also allowed the God of Thunder to fully realize his powers once again. There is a strong belief that Thor: Love and Thunder will see a new version of Mjolnir being forged to replace the hammer that was destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok and this would also suggest that Eitri would be required for doing such a task. Although the role may not be a large one – despite the dwarf of the MCU being somewhat taller than would be expected – it would certainly be feasible that Marvel would once again be looking to tie in their previous movies with the new phase as much as possible.

Mjolnir Is An Essential Part of Thor: Love and Thunder.

Promotional art for Thor: Love and Thunder, including clothing designs and a poster, have featured Thor still using Stormbreaker in his fourth solo outing, while Jane Foster’s transformed Goddess of Thunder is seen holding Mjolnir, which in the comics is what is partially responsible for the transformation. All that does seem to lead to the conclusion that a new version of Mjolnir will be featured in the movie, and therefore so will one of the only characters capable of making it.

This would not be the first time a list of crew roles has led to speculation about casting in Marvel movies. Recently a listing that included Bill Murray’s stunt double was spotted in relation to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania weeks before Murray himself appeared to confirm that he does indeed have a mystery role in the forthcoming film. While Marvel is quite adept at keeping many things secret, there are a lot of eyes patrolling the internet for the slightest hint at what could be coming in the future, which turns even the most mundane snippets of information into exciting rumors for social media to ponder.

Thor: Love and Thunder is the second Marvel Cinematic Universe movie heading to cinemas in 2022, following the May release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While all eyes are on that movie following the early trailer, full attention will soon turn to Thor’s next outing, which also sees the return of certain members of the Guardians of the Galaxy team, as well as the debut of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher as the movie’s main antagonist. The main plot of the movie is currently shrouded in secrecy, but that will likely change in a few months when Marvel will begin actively marketing the movie just ahead on the Doctor Strange sequel.
