According to Variety, Helmer Peter Hewitt's next assignment will be The Great Hartford Elementary Heist for Universal Pictures. He plans to start work on it as soon as he completes Garfield, due out June 25th from 20th Century Fox.

"Heist," produced by Playtone Prods.' Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks, is a family caper pic about a group of 11-year-olds who band together to retrieve possessions wrongfully confiscated by their evil school principal.

Rather than find a director with an earlier available slot, Universal decided to wait for Hewitt to finish on "Garfield" and now plans to lense "Heist" over the summer, aiming for a 2005 release.
