Back in April, Disney revealed our first full look at Elliot in the studio's highly-anticipated remake Pete's Dragon. With just a few months left until the August 12 release date, the studio shared a new poster today, along with word that the new trailer will debut tomorrow, June 14. The studio will also debut a new sneak peek of the trailer later today, with an introduction from star Bryce Dallas Howard.

The first trailer was unveiled back in February, during ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 TV special. Disney also previewed this remake during their CinemaCon presentation in April, but we don't know for sure if this new trailer will be the same as the footage shown at CinemaCon. Pete's Dragon opens in U.S. theaters on August 12, going up against Sony's Sausage Party, Universal's Spectral and Paramount's Florence Foster Jenkins.

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales...until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott.

And from Pete's descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham's stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. Pete's Dragon also stars Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Craig Hall, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Marcus Henderson.

The film is directed by David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints) from a script he co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks, based on a story by Seton I. Miller and S.S. Field. Jim Whitaker (The Finest Hours, Friday Night Lights) produces with Barrie M. Osborne (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Great Gatsby) serving as executive producer. Take a look at the new Pete's Dragon poster below, and be sure to check back later today for the trailer preview, and tomorrow for the full trailer.
