A new image of Pinhead has arrived to tempt you to complete the pattern, solve the puzzle, and turn the key. The latest image of the leader of the Cenobites comes courtesy of Fangoria, and shows Sense8 star Jamie Clayton as the iconic Hellraiser horror movie monster. You can check out the latest look at Pinhead below...if you dare.

This new take on Hellraiser will act as a new adaptation of the 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker. First published in 1986, the story was used as inspiration for the movie Hellraiser in 1987, which tells the story of a mystical puzzle box that summons the Cenobites, a group of extra-dimensional, sadomasochistic beings who cannot differentiate between pain and pleasure. Led by Pinhead, the character has since become one of the most evocative in the horror movie genre, with many wondering how the new Hellraiser will live up to the legacy left by original actor Doug Bradley.

Well, live up to it they must, with this year’s Hellraiser hoping to bring something different to the Pinhead character by casting Sense8 and Roswell, New Mexico star Jamie Clayton in the role. While what we have seen so far shows off a similar look to what audiences will be used to when it comes to Pinhead (you’ll be pleased to see there are plenty of pins in her head), Clayton has already brought a different air to the character. Somehow softer and more ethereal than what has come before.

“We say ‘female Pinhead’ like we know what that means, but there are a million shades of femininity," original Hellraiser director Doug Bradley said of the casting. "Where exactly are they going to go with that? Everything about Hellraiser has always been transgressive. Everything, always, from start to finish. It’s not a new idea in that sense, but I’m intrigued. I’m in the same position as all the rest of you, I guess, to see where that goes."

This Year’s Hellraiser is Not a Remake, Says Director David Bruckner

Hellraiser Reboot
Hulu

Upon the initial announcement, many had assumed that this year’s Hellraiser would be a reboot of the beloved original. But director David Bruckner has recently declared that this is not the case. "This is not a remake. I just didn't think you could ever remake the original Hellraiser,” he said. “It's too much its own thing and it would be, I think, perilous territory for filmmakers, because how do you top that? This is a new story in the Hellraiser universe."

Whether this means that the new Hellraiser will connect to the 80s original in some way remains to be seen. What we do know is that Hellraiser will center on a young woman struggling with addiction who comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

Directed by David Bruckner, with a screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, and with Clive Barker on board as a producer, Hellraiser stars Odessa A'zion as Riley and Jamie Clayton as Pinhead alongside Brandon Flynn, Goran Višnjić, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds, Selina Lo, and Hiam Abbass.

Hellraiser is scheduled to be released exclusively on Hulu as an original film on October 7, 2022.
