Earlier today producer Jerry Bruckheimer opened up for the first time about Lone Ranger, and how they finally got the project off the ground. He also gave a brief update on Pirates of the Caribbean 5, indicating they're starting over from scratch with the screenplay.

"We're in the outline phase. We will lay out a story. We have a script, but we decided we could do better."

We reported in May that Terry Rossio's script was completed. It isn't known if Terry Rossio will re-draft the screenplay, or if Disney will bring on a new writer.

Actor Kevin McNally also exclusively revealed to us that they are aiming for a summer 2012 production start on Pirates of the Caribbean 5. With a whole new screenplay being conceived, it isn't known yet if they will be ready to hit that start date.
