Universal Pictures has confirmed that actresses Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are returning as Becca and Fat Amy in the musical comedy sequel Pitch Perfect 2. It still isn't known if any of the other Pitch Perfect stars, such as Skylar Astin, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp or Alexis Knapp will be coming back.
We first reported on the sequel back in April, when Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon came aboard to write the Pitch Perfect 2 script. Elizabeth Banks, who co-starred in and produced the original, signed on last month to make her feature directorial debut, and co-star as Gail. The director is also producing alongside Gold Circle's Paul Brooks and her Brownstone Productions partner Max Handelman. No story details have been revealed for the follow-up, and it isn't known when production may begin.
The original Pitch Perfect was one of the biggest success stories of 2012, earning $113 million worldwide from a $17 million budget, and taking in over $135 million from Blu-ray and DVD sales. The soundtrack, which featured Anna Kendrick's triple-platinum single "Cups," sold over 1 million units. The musical comedy centered on Becca (Anna Kendrick), a college freshman who brings a new style to an a cappella singing group, leading them to the finals of a prestigious competition.
